...How well do sugar gliders (or flying squirrels) get along with cats?
Do not attempt to teach sugar gliders or flying squirrels to be friendly with ANY cat or dog. It's most always tragic for the glider or squirrel.
It is not natural for them to be 'friendly' with a predator and make no mistake, cats are predators. What you have in mind is like leaving the inmates in charge of the jail. How well do sugar gliders (or flying squirrels) get along with cats?
I don't think the sugar glider would care much for a cat. I am pretty sure the cat would want to kill the sugar glider. Keep them away from each other. Better safe than sorry.
Oh please don't put them together. They can live in the same household, but don't let it out with a cat in the room. My sis-in-law had one for over 15 yrs and she also had up to 4 cats at once, but one time the little glider got out and one of the cats scratched his eye pretty good and did damage to it and for the rest of his life it was messed up. (vet and all couldn't fix it all the way)
I don't think that would be safe. Once the cat sees him/her gliding, she/he will think it's some kind of toy and try to attack it. Unless, your cat has no problem with those little animals, it's ok, but it's kind of hard to keep a cat from doing its natural instincts.
