IDK what to do with it.My squirrel is always eating nuts, is it gay?
I didn't know you objected...or I would have stopped...My squirrel is always eating nuts, is it gay?
Are you asking if your squirrel is ';gay'; or '';gray?';
I think you have to eat more than nuts to be ';gay.'; I don't think the ';gay'; guy who declares, ';I only eat nuts'; would have too many takers.
You shouldn't have a squirrel. They are a wild animal. Let it outside.
But, no, unless he is boning other male squirrels, then he's probably straight since most squirrels eat nuts and if they were all gay, there'd be no squirrels.
what do you expect from a squirrel!? What do you expect it to eat? Go and make itself some pancakes? Lol for petes sake it's a squirrel it's supposed to eat nuts...
Squirrels eat nuts :P

Are squirrel noctounal, diurnal or crepuscular?
well...which are they? Are squirrel noctounal, diurnal or crepuscular?
Squirrels are diurnal. One of my favorite creatures to feed and observe. I love the crazy antics. Our cats go crazy because we have a covered outdoor cat house and run.The cats can watch as much as they want but do no harm. Are squirrel noctounal, diurnal or crepuscular?
I saw squirrels at nightfall and at daybreak-_- I think they ar crepuscular...................鈥?
Think about it.
Nocturnal means during the night.
Diurnal means during the day.
Crepuscular means at twilight (just before dawn or just after sunset).
Now, when do you see squirrels? During the day, right?
So you can figure out the answer.
they are crazy and weird
Squirrels are diurnal. I live in the sticks and they are active all day.
I vote for diurnal also, because that's the correct answer
Eastern gray squirrels are diurnal, and as as someone else said, some flying squirrels are nocturnal. And there are lots of kinds of squirrels - gray, red, fox, flying, ground, etc. - living all over the world. So I guess the answer is - depends on what kind of squirrel you mean.
Southern flying squirrels are nocturnal.
They diurnal and crepuscular.
How would I know? There is a group of squirrels that live in the roof in the area right above my head right now. I usually like to pull all nighters and I can hear them scrambling up there.
Diurnal, though this is odd for mammals

How do i keep the squirrels from eating my pumpkin?
Every time i carve my pumpkin the squirrels eat it i hate that is there away to keep them away from the pumpkin i try hot sauce last year but that didn't workHow do i keep the squirrels from eating my pumpkin?
I use to go to a hardware store or a craft store and purchase a clear finishing spray and would spray all of my pumpkins with that,it really works! How do i keep the squirrels from eating my pumpkin?
Do give them some store-bought feed . I think u can find at a professional pet store, they will advice the surely right feed. If u rich. When the squirrels are full , there u are. I think the more delicious one than your pumpkin will work certainly.Remember dont hurt them cuz they r cute. :)
smear vaseline on the cut edges..it will hopefully tatse nasty enough and also will preserve the pumpkin longer....
if you let the pumkin ferment and they eat it they'll get drunk!!! theres a youtube vid that shows that i think....
try a gun unless your in city limits then try a blowgun then you can eat them because they are quite good.
if you want less lethal then get some stun darts for the blow gun or some traps
piss in a cup and spill it around the pumpkins!!!! my mom would put raid to keep away bugs and even raccoons stayed away =]
spear hand sanitizer on it
Simple: Kick the squirrel in his nuts.

Will moth balls and predator urine work for getting rid of squirrels from my attic?
The urine, no. I keep fox urine on my truck for many customers want to try that before more drastic measures and I can't think of a time it was successful.
Mothballs can work at times, but more times than not it just moves them to a different location of the attic, it doesn't stop them from passing through where the MB were placed out. I'll also get numerous calls a year on how to get rid of the mothballs because the smell will permeate into the home from the attic and if they were just thrown about you probably can't collect them all. If you try the moth ball place them in an old stocking so that you can at least easily remove them Will moth balls and predator urine work for getting rid of squirrels from my attic?
The mothballs and urine might keep new squirrels from moving into the attic, but once the squirrels have made a nest in your attic, they are much harder to shift. I've had squirrels move into my attic on two different occasions, and mothballs did nothing. I ended up using a live trap to remove them and had to resort to poisoning one of them that was too smart for the trap. Will moth balls and predator urine work for getting rid of squirrels from my attic?
I'm afraid it won't work at all. You need to find the source of entrance. Then seal that up tight. It's the only way. Do it before there are babies. Go up in your attic during the day with the attic lights off. Look for daylight coming in and close up all those spots.
You can try, then call the exterminator. It will cost much less than the damage the squirrels are doing in your attic.
Probably not. Call an exterminator.
I have no idea about the urine but the moth balls will work for sure.

Aveyond 2 - How do I get the birdseed from the militant squirrels?
I can see the birdseed in the militant squirrels' cave, but I can't figure out how to get it so I can use it with the bird cage to catch the nightingale for the Empress. I did try giving the squirrels the statuette of Lionel to see if they would give me the birdseed, but they just gave me firesticks. And I thought maybe I could put them to sleep with their own sleeping dust and get the birdseed that way, but I can't do anything with it, either, yet. So, any ideas how to get the birdseed, and what is the sleeping dust for?Aveyond 2 - How do I get the birdseed from the militant squirrels?
You must first trigger the corn thief side quest in order to get the birdseed this is how you do that. you have to go back to Brumwich and tell the woman in one of the houses that the squirrels are stealing their corn. Then the next time you go to the squirrels hideout, there are some villagers in there and I think that's when you can pick up the bird seed.lol keep forgetting things, you need the sleeping dust is to get into dream world. guess you haven't rescued the priestess in Mt Orion. shes in the giants cave but that's all the help i`m going to give you.

One of those flying ones. Is a sugar glider one? I would also want it white with a ninja costume. If your religion was a squirrel what kind of squirrel would it be?

Have you ever heard of kittens being used to deter squirrels?
My friend's mom is convinced that having two 8 week old kittens outside will keep squirrels off of her roof, is there any truth to this?
I told her to put up a squirrel blocker and buy some repellent, was I right?Have you ever heard of kittens being used to deter squirrels?
That is ridiculous! First of all, no responsible pet owner has outdoor cats anymore. There are just too many hazards. Having an outdoor cat is like saying you love pouring money down the drain - the vet bills never end. Geez, I hope she got them spayed/neutered, at least.
Second, squirrels can hold their own against most cats, and if I were to get in a fight with either, I'd rather it be a cat. But for the most part, they co-habitate peacefully.
Third what does she plan to do when the kitten gets up on the roof (which they are unlikely to do) and gets stuck? And what makes her think the squirrel won't just hop into a tree?
There are many ways to deter squirrels, including removing brush from around the house - that deters rats too, and providing places for them to live away from the house (don't cut down your big nut trees, and then expect them to stay away from your house). Why not learn to live peacefully with them?
I rehab wild animals and my all time favorite animal is squirrels. I've lived with one (uncaged) in my house for two years. They are spotlessly clean and so are their nests. They are smart and empathetic. They have a strict set of ethics (handouts are insulting, but stealing is honorable) and a complex social structure. Living with one, I learned that when I made an effort to understand her ways and language, she made just as great an effort to understand mine and to comply with my rules.
I had a trio (sibs) that hung out on my porch for 11 years, and they never caused any trouble. When the male was horribly injured after being caught by a hawk, his sister took care of him and doted on him for months while he recovered.
Squirrels are not destructive unless they are forced to be. They are not like raccoons who will deliberately tear things up just for fun. They are not sloppy like opossum, who are fairly clean but will poop in their own dishes. They carefully set up house, keep it clean ( clean it out periodically to make sure) and tear up no more than they have to to make their drey safe and secure. If they move into someone's house, you can believe the homeowner destroyed their drey and they are just trying to make a new one. Put up a couple dreys ( you can go to squirrelboard for instructions) and they'll probably move out.
If your friend's mom wants other tips for dealing with squirrel pests, she can email me.Have you ever heard of kittens being used to deter squirrels?
Your friends Mom is essentially correct. Cats are an excellent deterrent against pests and vermin.
Since my cats learned how to knock down squirrels out of the trees on our property they no longer come around here. And any that dare to do not leave. They get eaten. We have no pests around our property since the cats went to work.
This is what cats were meant to do; eradicate pests. Locking cats in our houses and turning them into window decorations has only been in vogue for about 150 years. Before that cats were kept to protect our food and kill disease carrying rodents. Some modern cat owners are actually shocked to find that ';FLUFFY'; is a natural born killer with very unsettling eating habits.
I live in a small farming community/village on the Central Prairies. If it wasn't for our cats we would be over run with mice and prairie gophers. At night they are our gentle, loving pets. During the day they are cold blooded killing machines.
LOL!!!!! No it won't work. Kittens would have no effect on squirrels.
We have a ton in our back yard and the cats don't chase after them. The squirrels come within 10' of them and are not afraid. Your friend's mom probably just wants kittens and is using the squirrels as an excuse.
Well...I have had 3 different cats (2 since they were kittens) for almost 10 years and there are still squirrels all around my yard and neighbors yards. I don't think kittens would make much of a difference.

How do I stop squirrels from killing everything in my yard??
They are pesky little critters. The only way I've found is to feed them. I know it sounds crazy but when I put up a couple of squirrel feeders they left everything else alone. Try it. :)How do I stop squirrels from killing everything in my yard??
BB gunHow do I stop squirrels from killing everything in my yard??
My father-in-law uses a BB gun. It works really, really well.
Arm the chipmunks
Shot them. Get your
Red Ryder out.
I find it strange that squirrels are killing everything in your yard since squirrels are nut eaters or seed eaters only. On rare occasion will they go for bulbs like tulips, crocus or hyacinths. Chipmunks would be more the culprits for that. maybe if you were mor discriptive as to what is being distroyed it would be easier to answer this question.
KILL THE SQUIRRELS!!!!
THEY'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A CUTE RAT WITH A BUSHY TAIL.
KILL 'EM ALL!!!
Get a cat or a dog
Billee
BB Gun and good aim.
Trapping seems more humane but they are territorial buggers and will make every effort to return ';home'; and probably get hit by a car anyhow.
I wish I knew the answer...:)
Buy a dog or just borrow one, it'll kill the S**T outta a squirrel in a NEW YORK MINUTE and take it's TEXAS TIME DOIN IT!
The only way is to kill or get a have-a-hart trap. When you move them take them a long way I take about 8 miles. Do not let them go near farm etc as in some places there are laws against it. I find a nice big woods and let them go. I have hunting dogs and cats and they usually don't work. If you live in country and they are gray squirrels shoot and eat. I hear that in the south red squirrels are good also. In the north the red squirrels are scavengers. If you are in a area where you can shoot.Use at least a 22. They have a tough skinzits

Does anybody know how to NON-LETHALLY get rid of squirrels?

Hope it helped :)
I may have a way...
First get a box big enough to hold the squirl.
Then you prop it up with a stick, and tie a string to the stick. Put nuts or food underneath the stick, and take the string and hide around a corner. Wait...
When you getg a squirel, take something, and slide it under the box and take it else where.
Get a slow cat
Call your local Humane Society\Animal Shelter..I'm sure they would come out and get them as they do for snakes, racoons, etc, etc
This happened to us. Get someone to walk on the roof and check for EVERY small opening...even a piece of moved siding can be large enough to allow a squirrel to get in. You seal up the holes either by repair or by stuffing wire into the hole tight enough that the squirrel can't get it out. That will keep the new squirrel's out.
You might have to resort to killing the ones already in the attic. If you don't kill or catch them they will stink if they die and rot.
The only true non-lethal way is to use carbon dioxide gas. Simply make the place air tight and get all the humans out(unless they're bothering you also, lol. JOKING%26gt; GET THEM OUT). then let the CO2 go in the area the squirrels are, and they'll pass out, like us when we go under for surgery.
You can purchase a squirrel trap. It traps the squirrel so that you can release it far away from your home.
Make sure you take it far away, otherwise it may beat you home.

Mix some cayenne pepper in with that and you will not kill them but if they get some of that in their snoot you will make them think twice about coming back for an other dose
You really don't want to poison them, they may croak in your attic and start stinking up the joint. The best thing to do is squirrel-proof your attic with chicken wire around windows/vents/ flues.
why don't you sort out the holes in your attic then no problem :)
First, fix your holes and areas that they are coming thru. Reinforce them if necessary. Next, buy a squirrel block , or some dried corn for them to nibble on. Feed them, don't fight them. Then everyone will be lovey-dovey
POOR SQUIRRELS WOULDN'T LIKE TO BE FOUND SWATTING IN YOUR HOUSE. WHY DO YOU WANT TO KILL THEM IT'S YOUR FAULT THEY ARE THERE BY NOT SEEING TO THE ATTIC AND CHECKING THAT THERE IS NO HOLES FOR ANIMALS TO CRAW INTO.
WANT A PEANUT AND CORN SANDWICH FOR YOU LUNCH TMO LOVE, EXTRA FILLING GETS YOU A AMBULANCE RIDE TO A AND E. NOT NICE SURE IT WOULDN'T BEING ON THE RECEIVING END.
Purchase one of those clickers. They plug into an outlet and are adjustable for loudness. They keep everything from bugs to animals away because the sound is irritating to them. I `ve had one in my attic and basement for 8 years and not a sign of an intruder. They also make them for outdoors. Good luck!
cyanide
absolutely do not poison anything to feed to squirrels that any other living creature could eat. instead, be responsible homeowners and inspect your attic, sealing off any openings you find. not only will you keep the squirrels out, but you will also keep in some of the heating/cooling that is escaping by having holes in your homes exterior (and, you may as well insulate while you are up there). remember, if there is a hole big enough for a squirrel to use, then anything smaller than a squirrel is also likely to squeeze on in... think, bats, bugs, birds, etc...
Cover the attic where they are getting in, the hole, and the ground outside with ground black pepper, red pepper, and montreal steak seasoning. I know it sounds bizarre, but I had a squirrel problem a few months ago and bought an expensive squirrel deterrent that when opened, smelled just like pepper. So I returned the item and raided my cabinets. I used ground black pepper, ground red pepper, and montreal steak seasoning. They get it on their paws and when they groom themselves, they don't like the taste. It takes a week or two, but they will declare you attic inhospitable and noone dies!!!! You must be consistent...I threw the stuff in there by the cupfull a few times a day. They did leave and I boarded it up. Make sure to close the openings after they leave. Good luck. Oh and by the way, I called an exterminator and it would have been $300 PER SQUIRREL to remove them...it's much cheaper to spend $20 in seasonings.
try calling animal control or an exterminator and asking their advice.
Don't kill the poor things. just call an animal exterminator.

How can I stop squirrels digging up my newly sown plants?
Grate a cheap bar of soap and sprinkle it around the plants.
A friend told me about this, it really works! How can I stop squirrels digging up my newly sown plants?
get a shotgunHow can I stop squirrels digging up my newly sown plants?
Try spreading either chicken wire or netting over your plants. Keep it a few inches above the ground by attatching it to wooden pegs or sticks around the area. Make sure all the sides are held down with stones or they will find a way in.
Steal their spades(Shovels) perhaps?
plant throught wirenetting or if yiou are planting bulbs put the wire netting over then.
set-up squirrel traps!
Fix some garden netting around them (and on top) until the plants have got bigger.
hide all the spades!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you got a shot gun?
put a bird feeder up with plenty of nuts init well away from amy plants
You cant - they dont understand. Feed them an alternative instead. Peanuts is what they want.

How do you keep squirrels and stray cats out of flower beds and containers?
Sprinkle cayenne pepper around all your plants. Both cats and squirrels hate it.How do you keep squirrels and stray cats out of flower beds and containers?
Catch one and crucify it in the middle of your garden to warn the rest that u really mean business. How do you keep squirrels and stray cats out of flower beds and containers?
your local garden center should make these plastic spike mats, they aren't that big, but you can scatter them throughout the beds. I know home depot has them, and you can also get them online. Also I know if you sprinkle hot chili powder on the plants, the animals wont eat them. As for squirrels, they think its their territory and its hard to get them out of beds, n containers, but those little spike mats might work, and if you get a good pair of gardening shears, you can cut them to size.
Poison them.
I have used moth balls around the borders and try not to water near them and it seems to keep my cats away.
Try putting Lemon peels in the flower beds. Cats normally hate the smell. You may have todo it often due to rain etc.
Moth balls might help the squirrels but am unsure.
Yell ';Shoo!'; out the window.
Get a big dog
look for something at your local lowes or hardwhere store or gardening. ask for assistence.
reynolds wrap they do not like the sound
moth balls
or a shotgun is quite effective also..
I know this sounds gross, but to get rid of these and other critters from your flower beds, mix amonia with human urine and pour it around the flower beds in small amounts.
Many peole like to use aluminum pans or foil to scare the critters with noise, but this takes away from the beauty of the plants. Try the mixture, you will love the results if not the method.

Can a marksman singshot kill a squirrel?
knock out or down ,,dont get bitCan a marksman singshot kill a squirrel?
i shot a red squirrel with mine and the thing prolly died of lead poisoning before i shot it for the 15th time. i shot it right in the mouth and the pellet stuck in its lip, you got to make sure you hit it in the right place and you got to be pretty close! Can a marksman singshot kill a squirrel?
easily, i have done it many times, just use the smaller shot from the store, or do what i did and use small rocks. they get better penetration than the bigger shot. make sure you pull back the sling as far as you can though, or it wont every time.
Yes. Slingshots are a legal means of taking squirrels in my state, and they are very effective. I know a guy who's killed deer with a slingshot. I can't even pull his slingshot back, and he uses ammo the size of pinballs, but it gets the job done.
I hit one in the spine a few years back, and broke its back.I bet if you hit it in the head, you could kill it.
How close are you? If you were close, and hit it in the head, I would say youd Stun it, but if it is high-velocity, I would say Maybe.
Some squirrels are fat, ya know.
theres only one way to find out....
yes it canzits

I've got grey squirrels in my loft, how can I get rid of them?
I've got grey squirrels in my loft, how can I get rid of them? Are there any devices on the market which would deter them? Sonic devices or even traps?I've got grey squirrels in my loft, how can I get rid of them?
Call teh Pest control its more effective and safer. If you insist on getting rid of them your self maybe try mouse traps but Good Luck though =) and be careful!I've got grey squirrels in my loft, how can I get rid of them?
try offering a food supply via feeder in a differant part of your yard. once they have moved to an easly accessable food supply, close off where they are getting in.
Better than bats in your belfry.
yeah, a rabbit sized live trap baited with wheat bread stuck down with peanut butter, and get 2-3 different brands of sonic emitter, this creates a cacophony that drives the squirrels out, once they are all gone, use 1/4'; heavy chicken wire over all the soffet holes and vents, staplegun from the inside so you dont really see it, and get a cat, the cat pee smell scares squirrels, they also make squirrel away spray, but i find it doesn't work.
pest control will save you a lot of trouble, headache, time and possiblely attacks from angry squirrels.

I'm not a vegetarian or anything, I just hate the taste of meat.
( I don't like the fact they hurt animals either, I'm a member of peta, but I was just state that I dont eat it because it taste nasty)
I've tried rabbit and it was a bit strong for my taste but not inedible, I've had venison often and is quite tasty if marinated or cooked with spices, had rattlesnake once on a dare and have never had squirrel or raccoon.
i've tried deer before...not bad, but elk is better, haven't tried the others, buffalo is good too, then again i usually stick to chicken and angus beef LOL
what's so gross about it?? LOL
I eat deer (venison) pretty often. I have ate the others from time to time and believe it or not, rattlesnake is pretty good.
The closest I have ever gotten to eating anything like that is any seafood in the ocean and yes that includes shark.

They are digging the flowers up and theyare eating flowers off the rest of the ones they don't dig out.
we have tried moth balls and even putting human hair around the bed but they continue to cause a problem.

Humane Ways to Keep Animals Out of the Garden
Does every little furry and feathered creature scurry to your garden patch to eat? That鈥檚 great, if that鈥檚 what you planted the garden for. If not, here are humane ways to keep them away.
Fencing: If you have rabbits or skunks, encircle the garden with an 18'; high wire fence. Bury your fence about 8'; below ground as well to deter them from digging beneath. For gophers and squirrels - who like to burrow and eat the roots of vegetables (although ground squirrels will eat just about anything) - bury your fence about a foot below the surface. You鈥檒l also need to bury chicken wire under all the beds and around trees and shrubs. For deer, install fencing at least seven feet high, since they supposedly cannot jump any higher than this unless they have an uphill advantage.
Scarecrows: Owl or snake scarecrows tend to work only temporarily, since animals ultimately catch on when the scarecrow doesn鈥檛 move.
Netting: You can drape netting over your garden until the plants are fairly large, well-established, and can handle the occasional nibble from mammals. Some netting can injure birds who get tangled in it, so make sure your deterrents won鈥檛 harm other creatures. For example, if you kill insects with poison, you may also kill the butterflies and birds who eat the insects.
Plants: You can also plant vegetation that you know certain animals will not like to eat. Lavender and sage tend to keep squirrels away. And deer don鈥檛 care for such plants as calendulas, irises, lavender, basil, marigolds, and fleabane. Check gardening books or call your local extension office for a specific listing of plants that thrive in your area.
Fortify areas that are off limits - Plant areas around garden beds with thorny plants or hedges, such as roses, barberry, pyracantha, holly or gooseberry. These deterrents make great ';fences'; around areas where you don鈥檛 want to erect a real fence.
Provide plants that the ';pests'; are allowed to eat - Try planting some extra squash or zucchini plants around the edges of your garden. These plants will attract the pests and deter them from raiding the more desired vegetables in the center.
Use the sprinkler - Deter animals from protected areas by having a sprinkler ready. Nothing surprises an unwanted guest more than a spraying of water. Sprinklers are now available with motion detectors, which are great for nighttime guests.
Use repellents - An old trick that still works is to sprinkle ground pepper on plants that animals are nibbling on, or make the following repellent spray. If making a spray is too much trouble, try planting garlic around your favorite plants that hungry rabbits, gophers, squirrels, or voles to nibble on. As an added benefit, many insects are repelled by garlic as well.
Make pests think a predator is after them - Most plant-eating animals, such as rabbits, deer, and squirrels, are prey for some other animal. Dogs, cats and humans are predator animals. If you have a male dog, he probably takes care of this for you by marking his territory. If you don鈥檛 have a dog, borrow a friend鈥檚 or place kitty litter or hair from your last haircut around the perimeter of your yard. Gardeners who do not have access to a pet can even use human urine to mark out their territories. Using scents works well, but remember that after a while the pests will figure out that a predator isn鈥檛 around after all, and will become brave enough to raid your garden. Deer are especially smart at figuring this out. You can avoid this problem by switching between various scents so the pest鈥檚 don鈥檛 become accustomed to any particular one.
General Purpose Mammal Repellent Spray
* 2 to 4 hot chili peppers (the hotter the better, such as habanero or serrano) or 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
* 4 cloves garlic
* 1 quart water
Mix all ingredients in a blender. Stain and use the mixture in a spray bottle or hand-held sprayer. Be sure to spray again after a rain.

ok, i had this problem with squirrels in my attic. they have suirrel friendly cages. go out and get one, they arent too much and if you are trying to be nice and not kill them this really is the best way to go. I took a wad of peanut butter and rolled it with oats placing it in the cage. everytime i set out the cage i would have a squirrel within 24 hours. take the little buggers to a park or uninhabited area and release them back to the wild. Some may run after seeing their caged friends. If they choose not to then just catch them also, they aren't the smartest creatures ever. this technique should work wonders on the rabbits too. no guns, no poison, your flowers are good, everyone is happy
Have tried applying the juice/pulp of grounded Habenero peppers on the foliage of the plants in your beds? This taste is very displeasing to rabbits and squirrels. You can even make a solution with water and spray your beds down with it.
That would be impossible.. :)
Rabbits hate marigolds. no joke. They don't go near them. If you can bear, maybe plant some marigolds around the edge of the garden. But i don't know what to do about the squirrels... hey, get a dog! :)
put up a high garden fence
put carrots and accorns on ur niebers yard!!
Get a cat and teach it to hang out outside.
I swear by the marigolds. My immediate fix is Dried Blood. Its high in nitrogen and critters don't like the smell or taste. Peppers are good , but a lot of work. Jalapenos are safer for you and your plants. 1\4 tsp per Gal soap solution is always good for anything.

How can I keep squirrels off my pumpkins for halloween, but still have them eat it after?
I hate squirrels eating my pumpkins before Halloween, but after is fine and I dont want to waste a good pumpkin...How can I keep squirrels off my pumpkins for halloween, but still have them eat it after?
At home supply stores such as Orchard or HomeDepot, you can buy sheets of wire screen that you can cage around the pumpkin. Depending on the size you choose, the pumpkin will be easily visible through the wire, and it will be protected from the ravenous squirrels. Once you are ready for the squirrels to eat the pumpkins, simply remove the wire cage and save it for next year. How can I keep squirrels off my pumpkins for halloween, but still have them eat it after?
you know we have the same promblem! I forgot what magazine it was but it said to use hot sauce or windex on the pumpkins, and they will stay off of them! I hope this helps you!

I dont see any squirrels out?
I live in northwest ohio, USA and im having a hard time finding a squirrel.
Its may 24th, obviously, and i would think they would be all over by now...
I put out some peanuts in my yard about 5 hours ago and still nothing. I havent seen a single one all day! I have lots of trees in my yard and in my neighborhood, does anyone have a clue whats going on?
are they out yet?I dont see any squirrels out?
same here in washington state. normally they are all over, sorry, wish i knew tooI dont see any squirrels out?
We live in SE Ohio and they have been out and about here, all winter. I see them on our deck all of the time. Right now, they are probably eating other things. Like the seeds off of Maple Trees. I see them eating those. Plus the little buggers are probably in the nest raising lots of babies right now.
Its hard to find jack rabbits and alot of other animal in S. Cal. because of the fires, also wweird temp. changes. The Wilderess Society suggest making animal shelters since it gets harder and harder for our wildlife to survive.
Well we used to have the red squirrels in England, but the Grey squirrels killed them off, Now I hear there is a Black squirell that will kill off the greys, this must be coming from government labs surely.
They are in Mississippi robbing my bird feeder daily. I have 6 or 7 at a time.
They are out in full force here in South Dakota!
their populations are dying out
all over in long island new york

It would be Mundo de Ardillas Mutantes, and you'd pronounce ardillas ';oddtheeyas';.
It would sound something like Moondo deh oddtheeyas mootahntess.
It looks kind of crazy, but I tried to find English words (odd, thee, moo) that sound like syllables from the words.
The Spanish d is usually closer to the th in ';brother'; in English, and the r is almost like a quick English d.
Does Mudo Ardilla Mundo mean mutant squirrel world?
no it does not!
Mudo=Mute
Ardilla=Squirrel
Mundo=World
Mutant would be ';mutante';
In Spain's Spanish (called Castillian) you would pronounce it as ';Ardiya'; but in Argentina, where I am from, you would pronounce it as Ardizha Hope this helps, hasta luego!
double l in Spanish is always pronounced like a y. it's actually a seperate letter called elle (ay-yeh).
As far as your squirrel situation, Mudo is Mute
Ardilla is squirrel and mundo is world.
Good luck with that.

Why is it grey squirrels cannot be released back into the wild?
If someone was to hand rear a baby squirrel, they would have to find a captive home for it for the rest of it's life somehow. I understand that grey squirrels threaten the population of red squirrels but why else would they not be allowed free? Thankyou xxWhy is it grey squirrels cannot be released back into the wild?
you answered the question yourself. They threaten the red squirrel population but more importantly they are classified as a pest. You cannot expose the rest of the country to a pest, unless of course, it's your children, LOLWhy is it grey squirrels cannot be released back into the wild?
In the UK, it is illegal to release a trapped or reared grey squirrel into the wild - under Section 14 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
';Foresters, gamekeepers, park keepers and many conservationists regard grey squirrels as pests, mainly because they damage trees. Young saplings are destroyed and they gnaw the bark of hardwood trees, such as beech and sycamore, to get at the nutritious sapwood below. The raw scar left on the trunk encourages fungal attack and may lead to distorted growth.';
I don't know, sorry. Try using this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. This website will answer any question you have. Good luck!
because thete are too many grey's and not enough reds which are native.

The real Squirrel Cage has a nice looking face and he's a lot taller than Luke Perry so I would say no, leave well enough alone.
Hell no I think that would be hot!

Luke Perry? Can't you do better than a Luke Perry mask? Squirrel's cute just the way he is. So there!! : }

How can I keep squirrels away from my Nectarines?!?
I have a 3rd year nectarine tree that is producing a lot of fruit, however last year squirrels devoured every last one way before they were of large size or even anywhere near ripe so I got nothing!
How can I keep them away from the fruit this year? The tree is pretty tall and wide and the branches start very low to the ground so I cannot picture a way to fence or wrap/net it.How can I keep squirrels away from my Nectarines?!?
Sorry Mr. Answers, I have to disagree with your suggestion of live trapping and re-locating. You are giving advice which probably contravenes the Wildlife Act in that person's state or province. By re-locating you are upsetting the natural ecosystem and giving the problem to someone else. Are you suggesting this Fruit Grower break the law?
The abundance of squirrels and they are most likely Grey Squirrels are not in any way endangered. As a matter of fact they are considered a pest and in British Columbia an introduced Alien Species. They came here by means of live trapping and re-locating perhaps by someone like yourself. The Grey Squirrels are now decimating the local Environmental Habitat which were home to our Native Western Red Squirrel.
The best suggestion would be to have a Wildlife Pest Management Company come in and permenantly remove the Squirrel. How can I keep squirrels away from my Nectarines?!?
Well it's pretty hard to keep squirrels out of ANY tree!!! Trees are there homes!!! But there are many different types of fencing availible today! It doesn't matter that the branches are very low to the ground! Squirrels are very great jumpers, and they can run right up the tree trunk anyways! so cutting the lower branches would be nothing more then a waste of your time!!!
Setting up a squirrel feeder, far away from the tree, would be your best bet to try first! It seems the nectarines are more important to you, then spending a few bucks a week for some shelled unsalted peanuts, peanut butter and some popcorn!
Set up a a little platform on top of a 3 ft high wood pole, a 4 '; x 4 '' pole, the dagwood fencing type pole! Put the pole into the ground, then nail a 3 ft x 3 ft square hunk of 1/2 '; plywood flat on top of the pole! Nail a little 2'; ledge around the whole hunk of the outside of the plywood so the stuff you put out there on it won't fall off of it! Put the feeder close to a different tree so the squirrels can get onto the feeder easily from a tree branch of a tree!
Then mix, cooked popcorn, and shelled unsalted peanuts together, then heat up some peanut butter so it's more liquidly , about 4 table spoons and mix that into the popcorn and shelled unsalted peanuts, then put some into the squirrel feeder platform, and in a few days, the squirrels will tell others and your nectarine problems should come to an end! as long as you keep the squirrels feeder well supplied!
If by some chance, that doesn't cure your problems! Then you can fence the tree off with 4 ft high fencing, with chicken wire type fencing, with a 2 ft wide prison type top of the fence, so even if the squirrels try to climb the fence, they can't get over the outword angle to get to the tree! But if there is another tree to close to the nectarine, tree, then fencing any type will not stop the squirrels, squirrels can jump, tree to tree, from branches to branches of other trees! They run on power lines and up power poles! And then jump to trees that are close!
Squirrels jump from trees to garages, to garages to houses etc. They can go just about anywhere they want! And are very sneaky too! But just by making a feeder for them, with there daily everyday goodies can detour them from other things!
If all efforts fails, get a live trap cage, put the squirrels mixed feeder food in the live trap as bait, and when you catch them in the live trap cage, take them for a long drive and then release them by a farm, woods or park! It would be a lot better then shooting them with a pellet or bb gun!

OR CALL PEST CONTROL OR USE A M0USE TRAP even if they're not mice it still might work OR GATHER UP SOME FOOD LIKE FRUITS,ETC. AND POISON THE FOOD WITH RAID! well i'm out of ideasHow do you get squirrels to stop digging in a flower bed?
Squirrels dig in order to hide food , or to dig up food that they previously hid. Digging is natural with them. Enjoy the squirrels. they're as attractive as the flowers and vegetables , and more fun to watch.
traps and shooting them works well.

Is it sick that i had this urg to punt this squirrel?--this is not a joke?
i live on a college campus where there are all of these tame squirrels that arent afraid of ppl. u can be within a foot of them and they just continue whatever they are doing. so im walking along, and this squirrel is in my path. my first thought was to punt it. i didnt of course, but was kinda freaked that this was wat popped into my head. i saw a little white dog a second later, and thought that i could never punt a dog or a cat or anything, but every squirrel i saw seemed like a puntable entity. what to make of this? the squirels are still cute and domesticated....y was there a differentiation? i have no history of violence, or anything, but i dont think most 18 yr old girls think of punting squirrels. Is it sick that i had this urg to punt this squirrel?--this is not a joke?
I wouldn't worry about it, you didn't punt after all.
I think maybe you just don't like rodent-types of animals. Maybe dogs or cats register as ';pets'; or friendly animals to you, while anything too rodent like, like say mice or hamsters, just registers as a threat to you on a primitive, emotional level.
It happens. Lots of people look at squirrels and see ';rats with a perm.'; ^_^ You know? It's just one of those things I bet, that you have a slightly different boundary between, say, ';pet animal'; and ';vermin animal'; than your peers around you. As long as you aren't openly attacking and/or killing the things for sport, you should be fine. ^_~
Take care and stay safe....I know what you mean...Is it sick that i had this urg to punt this squirrel?--this is not a joke?
Yes, that is sick. I am sure there are other more productive things, you can do with your time.
thats funny. i think your mind is just curious
You are EVIL, you need to put your self into an asylum for ten years to get a grip on this. Just kidding, No it was a joke, stop kicking me! Help. Ever seen the commercial where the squirrel causes the wreck. You don't have a mental problem it was a thing you could have done and nobody probably would have cared. But you didn't so good for you.
Look, I consider myself an animal rights activist, and to be truthfull I ahve thought of punting squirrels and pigeons before. It's a pretty hilarious mental image...a squeek and a fuzzy squirrel flying through the air.
The mental picture is funny, the reality isn't.
But you only thought about it.
Thinking it would be fun to kiss a boy other than your boyfriend isn't cheating...zits

Warner Bros Cartoon Qu: A squirrel trying to crack a coconut.
This is one of my favourite cartoons from my youth about a greedy squirrel. Does anyone know the name of it so I can find it on you tube perhaps?
The squirrel starts with peanuts and then walnuts, and brazil nuts until he finds a coconut, which he trys to crack open without success. In the end it opens to reveal another coconut.

It's called ';Much Ado About Nutting'; it concerns a squirrel trying to crack open a coconut. There is no dialogue. After trying to drop it off a tree and using ...
Here's a few other famous cartoon squirrels:
In 1959, cartoonist Jay Ward created the now world-famous Rocky the Flying Squirrel. Formally known as Rocket J. Squirrel, the brainy sleuth was known for outwitting villains Boris and Natasha with his friend Bullwinkle the Moose. Rocky starred in his own show, “Rocky and His Friends.” Rocky and Bullwinkle made their comeback in 2000 with the Hollywood blockbuster, “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” starring Jason Alexander and Rene Russo. The film featured the vocal talents of June Foray, the original voice for Rocky and Keith Scott, son of Bill Scott, the original voice for Bullwinkle.
Secret Squirrel and his sidekick, Morocco Mole, premiered with their own Hanna Barbera cartoon in 1965. The show featuring the two madcap rodents was fashioned after the British spy movie craze of that era. Secret Squirrel was so popular that he returned in 1993 in eleven brand new episodes.
Slappy and Skippy Squirrel debuted on “Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs” show in 1993 and have since entertained both children and adults around the world. A retired toon actress from the Looney Tunes golden era, Slappy spends most of her days causing trouble on the Warner Brothers lot. She especially likes to carry out pranks using dynamite with her innocent nephew and sidekick, Skippy. Slappy’s popularity has generated a number of fansites on the Internet.

Squirrel problem beyond bird feeders....?
Everyone has problems with squirrels eating all the bird seed. We have several flowering plants on the back porch. the squirrels are now starting to eat the plants bare! I could kill them!! All we have now are potted sticks. They have an entire forrest back there to eat. We run them off every chance we get, but as we all know, they just come right back. we can't patrol the back porch all day. How do we stop them?Squirrel problem beyond bird feeders....?
You can coat the seed with chile pepper, birds dont mind it.Squirrel problem beyond bird feeders....?
It was a fully grown plant with leaves and blooms that the squirrels were eating. But we found that a weekly coat of cayanne pepper deters the pesky munchers! We have to water the plant more often, though.
try hanging a plastic owl around the plants and move it about every 3 days

Hugs, and Don't bother chasing those Fat Squirrels!
Try this aged old trick. Spread a liberal amount of common moth balls around your shrubs and plants.
try one (or a few) of these:
-fake predator(like an owl)... some even move and make noise
-hanging reflective things(like blank cds)- they see their own reflection and get scared
-somethings noisy, like chimes
-a commercial repellant that smells like a predator and scares them
-or put a wire barrier all of the way around the plants
I have bird feeders and a forested area inhabited by squirrels beyond my backyard. Squirrels destroyed my birdfeeders, ate my neighbors' hostas, and ate fruit off my trees.
What did I do? I bought a landscape timber, put a squirrel feeder on it, filled it with black-oil sunflower seeds, and put it in a FAR corner of my backyard by the woods. In the 2 years since, only 1 squirrel has ventured past the squirrel feeder, and it was a baby.
This is a cheaper, more humane solution than squirrel-proof bird feeders, dogs, squirrel scarers, shotguns, poison, traps, and yelling ';get!'; everytime you see them. As squirrels stake out their territory, this feeder will not attract more squirrels; it will only feed the ones that already live there.
My neighbors thought I was nuts; now they appreciate my squirrel feeder.
Predatorpee works great! Either fox or coyote pee. It tells the squirrels that they're being hunted and they'll leave.
I had a friend that had squirrels eating her house! She used the coyote pee and they were gone in days. The urine doesn't harm the birds as they do not have much of a sense of smell.

It was a fully grown plant with leaves and blooms that the squirrels were eating. But we found that a weekly coat of cayanne pepper deters the pesky munchers! We have to water the plant more often, though.

try one (or a few) of these:
-fake predator(like an owl)... some even move and make noise
-hanging reflective things(like blank cds)- they see their own reflection and get scared
-somethings noisy, like chimes
-a commercial repellant that smells like a predator and scares them
-or put a wire barrier all of the way around the plants

Is the God Shaped Hole about the right size for a squirrel?
As long as you aren't a fat squirrelIs the God Shaped Hole about the right size for a squirrel?
Nope, but a squirrel could easily slip in. It's a pretty big hole.Is the God Shaped Hole about the right size for a squirrel?
Not sure.
I am just a little 10lb Maltese dog and I tried to get in But it's too small.. Good luck!
Am I the only one with the courage to ask what the God Shaped Hole is? Since you capitalize it, I am assuming you mean something specific. Is this another one of those things in the mass media that I missed because I don't have a TV or pay attention to the news?
Just how big a squirrel are we talkin' here?
Hmmm. Sure maybe even a cow.
You're going to have to leave your nuts behind if you want to fit.

Has any one heard of research on the Antelope Squirrels metabolic abilities?
I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about research on the Antelope Squirrels ability to adjust its metabolism with temperature change even from night to day and vis versa? My prof mentioned it in class today and it sparked my interest so if anyone could provide any info about how this is possible that'd be great!Has any one heard of research on the Antelope Squirrels metabolic abilities?

What can I do about the hole in my roof until I can get it fixed. Squirrels + birds are getting in my attic?
If I temporarily seal off the hole, I don't want the animals to get trapped in and go down to the house. How can I get the little critters out of there? What can I do about the hole in my roof until I can get it fixed. Squirrels + birds are getting in my attic?
Plastic sheeting. Better still call a roof man. Even if you got to barter. What can I do about the hole in my roof until I can get it fixed. Squirrels + birds are getting in my attic?
you need to stuff the hole with those metal sponges. just pull them apart, and fill the hole with that material. the little critters hate the texture of it, and wont even try to weasel their way in. very humane, and very effective.
good luck! :)
make some noise in the attic and they will leave ,if not play rap no normal person or animal can stand it then block the hole with a rag soaked in bleach I watched them and one whiff of the rag and they were gone.
Try putting dog hair in the opening. Most critters avoid dogs (and the smell of them from the hair). Also, try to make a one way trap door out of mesh or other material and secure it over the hole.
Animal control services may be able to recommend a way to get them out, but plug the hole as suggested already
well to stop them from goin in there you can put a board on the hole mean while and to get them out you shouldnt really try because they might attack you.

Can you dry a squirrel pelt inside ?
i dont know if rain will ruin the pelt so i might have to dry the pelt insideCan you dry a squirrel pelt inside ?
I do not use table salt as it is iodized. I use canning salt and put it in a large shoe box or any box with a lid. Put several thicknesses of paper towels under the pelt as they leak fluids from the salt. Change paper towels every day until they are no longer leaking. As was mentioned the tail bone must be removed. I use a Xacto knife and cut carefully. Do not use heat just the normal room temperature. Keep up on a shelf where pets can not climb. Or lock in a cabinet in the basement. Can you dry a squirrel pelt inside ?
yes i live in alaska and only trap in the winter so i have to dry the pelts inside. put about 1/8 inch of table salt on it for a day then hang it up t dry make sure that you cut the tail out because if you don't it will stink but be very carefull because the skin on the tail is very fragil on alot of small fur animals

Yes, you can dry a squirrel pelt inside. Just make sure you take the proper sanitary precautions, and make sure (as the answer below me states) that you keep all pets and young kids away from it.
