It is illegal to take animals from the wild and keep them as pets. What you can do is release him back where he belongs and check your state, city, and county laws to see if you can even buy one there. If it is legal, don't be cheap and buy one. Good luck!

Careful they can carrie rabies. I had a pet squirrel but its illegal to keep one pined up (well in oklahoma it is). Just don't let any one and every one hold him until he is completely trusting of you and you know when he has had enough of something. You don't want him to bite and then something bad could happen.

You can buy one from a breeder that has been imprinted at birth..and they make wonderful pets..
But a wild squirell at some point will get starttled or upset and bite you..they carry dieases and did I mention it will hurt and it will not turn loose?
Let the squirell loose and buy a tame well imprinted one...
